Not all CJ majors are intelligent future-law-students...

08.28.03

So today in my Juvenile Justice System class, the prof asked people to share why they were interested in taking the class and learning about juvenile deliquency and the juvie court system. This one guy next to me raised his hand and said,

"When I was a kid, I was a juvenile."

No, I'm not kidding. It took every ounce of willpower to not burst out laughing at him. He's older than most college students (I'd peg him at around 26 or so), I've had many other classes with him, but he never graced my ears with such a gem before this.

In other hilarious news, according to my sex class textbook (written by the elderly woman professor who teaches the class), Kellogg's Cornflakes and graham crackers were both created to curb sexual desire, since it used to be considered hazardous to your health to be horny.

If life keeps going as it has been, I'm not gonna hit a blogging dry-spell for a long time.

Stupid protestors

08.27.03

What is up with the idiots who are all enraged about the moving of the Ten Commandments from the Alabama Judicial Building? Yo morons, they're not saying the Ten Commandments are bad. They're not dissing your religion. They're not trying to contribute to the moral decay of society. THEY JUST CAN'T BE IN A GOVERNMENT BUILDING. Plain and simple as that.

Sure, some things such as removing "God" from the pledge of allegiance are a little more questionable and debatable, but this is hands down a violation of the whole "church and state cannot mix" principle.

Vampire class day #1

08.26.03

My Vampire English class professor told us today, "I haven't gotten much sleep lately because I've been doing research for this class every night." None of us were quite sure how to take that.

First day of classes

08.25.03

And so begins my final year of college, which technically is only my third year. I'm flying outta here. I'm glad to be back in school, I missed classes and the people here. Lord knows how long it will be before I start saying, "Get me out of here, I'm sick of it". Probably once the cold weather hits.

Baby news

08.12.03

Big, big congrats to my cousin Lynne and her husband Kwame for becoming parents yesterday. After she was in bed rest for a month to keep the bugger from coming too soon, he refused to budge and they had to induce labor. Seems like he's already inherited one trait from his mom, he's damn stubborn and does what he wants, not what other people expect. :D

Still loving LA

08.06.03

I'm happy to say that my ear infection is nearly gone. The only time it hurts is when I sneeze. Damn that hurts. I'm not looking forward to getting back on the plane, hopefully it won't do anything to make it worse again.

A shout out to Tara, since my uncle has a pop-up killer on his computer and it won't let me comment on her blog. Congrats on making the dance company! I would go for it if I were you, it sounds fresh and new and exciting! (PS: Everyone go check out her new layout)

A shout out to Melantha as well, simply for being so damn cool. I've spent the last two days hanging out with her, and she's just as amazing in person as she has been the entire six years we've been talking online. We're going to the beach tomorrow, and I'll be able to post pictures once I get home (but only the ones where we both look good).

And here's to hoping that certain people are simply just very busy and aren't purposely ignoring an email and two phone calls after other certain people quit at the store that they both worked at. Even a measly "thanks for scanning my pictures" would be nice...but oh well, there's not much you can do about fair-weather friends. o_O

In other parts of my brain...I'm getting very itchy and anxious about all the video games that are coming out in the next few months. I know, I'm a nerd, but come on...we have Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Fire Emblem, Shining Soul, Boktai, and Super Mario Bros. 3 (the NES classic, IEIEIE) for the GBA; Star Ocean 3, Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy X-2 for the PS2 (although XII's a ways off); and Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the Cube. Not to mention that Dido has a new CD coming out soon...being patient is getting very difficult. So will remembering to do schoolwork once I start getting my hands on these.

Planes suck

08.03.03

Airplanes suck, I swear. I get on the plane in good health, and I get off the plane with a cold, an ear infection, and a zit on my chin. I also thank the heavens that I'm deaf, as strange as that sounds. You would understand if you were on a plane with about five screaming babies and mercifully had hearing aides you could shut off. Granted, it's rather difficult right now to get the damn hearing aide in my infected ear, but thanks to antibiotics and lots of Advil, I'm coping.

I <3 L.A.
