I come bearing news
07.28.03
Well, after such a long slump, I'm back with several bits of news.
First off, I quit my job. The one at the clothing store, at least, I'm still very happy with the law firm gig. Note to employers who wish to retain their employees' services: Don't trash talk your employee to her face and tell her she's soooo damn lucky to work for you (when having her on your staff saved your ass all summer after you fired a manager and didn't replace her) and that there's no way in hell you're going to help her find someone to cover three shifts so that she may go out of town to look at the law schools she will be applying to next month. Because, you know, who the hell needs to go to law school when they can work in a dead-end part time job for you?
I felt rather smug when I saw that the customers were noticing that she was on a rampage and alternated between staying far away from her and giving her the strangest looks.
The best part is that she was shocked when I called her the next day and quit. She said since she hadn't heard back from me that morning about finding someone to work for me, she assumed that I had cancelled my trip. Yes, I laughed too. I was just astounded that she thought she could talk to me the way she did and think I would come back all bright and cheery and ready to work.
Whatever, I'm out of a situation I didn't want to be in and feel much less stressed already. Since I've had more free time, I've already started reading a book a day again. You know things are wrong when I'm not reading.
Speaking of this trip to go look at law schools, Melantha and I will both be in Los Angeles August 4-8. So if you hear of any accounts of havoc being wrecked in the SoCal area, you'll be sure to get the insider scoop on one of our blogs. ; ) I'll actually be there starting August 1, and will possibly stay longer than the 8th since I don't have to be back in time to work and go to the psycho-bitch manager's wedding.
Apparently I'm unprofessional, how about that? I'll get off this topic soon, I'm just still in utter disbelief at her stupidity. You should never assume your employees are blindly loyal to you, you need to treat them in a way that makes them want to be loyal. Granted, it's very rare I run into people who understand this concept in the retail business, but you'd think that most people would have at least an iota of common sense.
In final news today, I dropped my Spanish class and instead picked up a psychology class on Human Sexuality that is taught by an old woman who believes masturbation should be used as a reward for doing things such as finishing your chores. I actually dropped Spanish because the building it was in was too far away from my sorority house. I know, I know, I'm pathetic, but this class sounds a lot more fun, and maybe spring semester I'll be able to take Spanish as an honors class and clear up my problem of not having enough honors classes to graduated with honors. The change has also given me a very nice schedule, as can be seen by clicking here. Granted, I have a 6-9 every Monday and Wednesday night, but since they're Criminal Justice classes, they should be bearable.
I'm such a geek for looking forward to going back to school.

Still bored
07.23.03
It's the middle of July, soooo...where's the sun?! I hate storms, I hate rain, I hate clouds.
As you can probably tell by the lack of entries, life is still boring. I love working at the law firm. I hate working at Cache. Remind me to never do retail again, standing around doing absolutely nothing for hours on end makes me want to puke.

Finally, a decent picture

It's not often that I see a picture of myself that I like, but when I do, it's cause for a celebration. *throws some confetti*
See the picture
You can even see what color my hair currently is.

Boring
07.09.03
It's been forever and a day since I last posted something. The sad thing is, there's still nothing new to say. Life has been wake-up-go-to-the-law-office-come-home-nap-wake-up-go-to-Cache-come-home-sleep. There have been people who I've been meaning to catch up with, but the dreary monotony that this summer has been has made me feel completely lifeless. This is definitely NOT a summer vacation, it's a summer workathon. They sacked a manager at Cache and decided to not replace her yet, which leaves her 40 hours per week to be distributed among the 4 non-managers who really can't take anymore hours. Leaves me more than pissy. I relax more AND get more meaningful work done during the schoolyear, so I'm definitely looking forward to going back.
