Bad omen

01.31.04

The building that my Spanish class is in has digital clocks in the halls. There is one that I pass every time I leave, and it creeps me out. It's always flickering "88:88" and it seems like a bad omen. Someone really needs to come fix it. I'm not superstitious or anything, but it seems like something you'd see in a movie before something bad happens.

Druggies

01.27.04

I've been reading some very weird stuff in the textbooks for my drug class. Apparently, dipping marijuana cigarettes in embalming fluid is a hip thing to do. Embalming fluid! Discovering back at the beginning of the 1900s that the milk industry was adding formalahyde to milk to make it last longer was one of the things that spurred the Pure Food And Drug Act. And here people are voluntarily consuming it. Embalming fluid prevents dead bodies from decaying. Gross.

The funny thing is how stupid the people who smoke this mixture are. First, the study I read discovered that the embalming fluid is spiked with PCP, and the buyers were absolutely clueless about it. They honestly thought they were only doing marijuana and formalahyde. Second, this one girl said that she does "fry", which is a slang name for this mixture, but that she would never mess with marijuana in embalming fluid, because she'd heard that it messes you up really badly. She didn't even know what she was smoking!

Another article that I read made me incredulous...this person who did work for NASA smoked marijuana before doing any work because he could see things in the pictures and graphs he was looking at that he couldn't see when he was sober (imagine that). He's doing work for NASA while stoned. Yeah, I'm really gonna trust anything from them now.

Winter day

01.26.04

I've decided that if my little sister gets a snow day, then I should get a snow day. Snow days should be required when you attend a university that has severe problems removing snow and ice from the sidewalks.

In rather unfortunate news, my boyfriend has mono, which means I can't kiss him. Or maybe that's fortunate news. For him, at least. :D

Stupid journalists

01.16.04

They're doing it again. Those stupid journalists. They did it back during the older sniper's first trial. Now they're doing it with Michael Jackson.

YOU CAN'T PLEAD INNOCENT.

You CAN'T. An innocent plea JUST DOESN'T EXIST.

I hate journalists. I really, really do. Don't read the newspaper, it'll just make you stupid.

Spanish sucks

01.13.04

I never realized how comfortable I am in my criminal justice classes until I went to my Spanish class yesterday. There wasn't a single soul in there that I know and I felt so weird. Luckily, that's the only class I have this semester that isn't cj-related. The class I'm really looking forward to is Thursday night, it's a class about criminal investigations. Very cool.

I have a new layout almost ready to put up, I just need to change the display of the content. That will probably happen this weekend. I like it a lot better than this one. It's more colorful.

Back to school

01.12.04

Today was the first day of classes. My last first day of classes here at Bowling Green. Kinda freaky when I think about it. The next time I start a new semester of classes it will be in law school.

Waiting to hear from law schools is nervewracking. It doesn't help that they say, "You should hear from us sometime before the end of May." Great. It's not like I'm anxiously waiting or anything.

More happy birthdays

01.04.04

All these damn "I was born right after Christmas!" kids...

Today my boy turns 22. Wish him happy birthday and tell him to not make me run with him next semester (although I did get awesome running shoes at Target for a mere $14.99...)

Only one week until it's back to school. Which is fine, I miss the evil-making-me-run-guy...er...my boyfriend.

If only school consisted of doing nothing except playing video games all day.

Happy new year!

01.01.04

First entry of the new year.

Ta da.

Hopefully a new layout will follow soon. I have ideas. Melantha has a snowy new layout. I envy her. :D

Break has been uneventful. Which is good. That means lots of sleeping and video games.

I've been reading the comics that spawned the movie The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The movie was fine. The comics are magnificant, they have a very morbid sense of humor. Even if you're not a comic fan (I'm not, really, these just sparked my interest) I recommend you check them out. There are two miniseries, with six comics in each one. I think they even sell them bound together as one book.
