At the age of 24, you'd think I wouldn't ever have moments where I felt old. But "old moments" have been smacking me in the face a little too often lately; on the plane ride back from LA, there was an entire track team from a university. Trying to pass time while waiting to board, I cast an eye around at all the guys to see if there was a hot one. I looked, and looked, and looked, and realized with horror that everyone was too damn young to be hot. So then I thought that maybe I was mistaken and it was a high school track team, rather than a college one. But no, everyone's sweatshirts and bags clearly put that theory down. Siiiiiiiiiiiigh.
And then, last week, I had an appointment at OSU's speech and hearing clinic to have my ears and hearing aides checked up. The last time I had gone there was over three years ago, before moving to Chicago. Besides the audiologists, there were always groups of students who met with me as part of their program. I had never thought much about it before, but this time, I was suddenly older than all of them. I got this odd feeling, thinking that my doctors should not be younger than me, and furthermore, holy crap, with every passing year, more and more people who are younger than me are going to be doing things like treating me at the doctor's office.
Life is weird, yo.
