05/07/2007: "Done with school, shopping to celebrate"

Song of the Day: Ilya - Without You

I am done with classes. Forever. I never again have to go to class. Well, except Bar classes. Which don't count, because I don't have to go to class anymore ever again forever and ever.

Today, I acquired two new pairs of shoes and two new pairs of shorts to celebrate. Shorts, which are an item of clothing that I have not owned anytime in the last decade. I bought a pair last weekend when Shannon was visiting, and they looked very nice, much to my surprise. I was looking for a white pair at the Gap, and came across some that were insanely short. Out of my general feel-good mood (aside from being done with classes, I have recently been fitting back into pants that didn't fit a few months ago), I grabbed them. And then I thought, "Holy hell, are those MY legs?" And my uncle and his friends started applauding.

Fashion rule #1 - when the gay guys enthusiastically approve, you listen.

One of the pairs of shoes was also an uncle-guided acquisition, and I didn't realize until I got home that I am not quite sure how I am going to walk in them. I have gone the last three years without wearing heels, because I refused to negotiate city blocks in them. In anticipation of no longer walking everywhere, I've been buying a few pairs of heels again, but I'm now wondering if jumping straight into 4-inchers is such a good idea.

Fashion rule #2 - do not wear short shorts with shoes whose heels are twice as long as the shorts' inseam. I think. >:D

Thank you for blessing Chicago with the sight of you in shorts. What a beautiful post. Thank you for writing this.
