10/17/2006: "Real Genius"

Song of the Day: Poe - Haunted

My Tivo just proved to me that we're on the same wavelength.

One of the Tivo Suggestions that it recorded for me today is the movie Real Genius.

Dude. Best Movie Ever. I only watched it about 20 times in a row at the height of my Val Kilmer obsession when I was a teenager.

The Tivo is totally forgiven for the times it's suggested things like Passions and Star Trek.

Terrorist popcorn is the shizz.

Is it a dream where you're standing in a sort of sun god robe on top of a pyramid while thousands of naked women are screaming and throwing little pickles at you?

Why am I the only person that has that dream?

And I am convinced that Passions is a satire about other soap operas, and I do not feel bad laughing hysterically at half the shit that goes on there. I mean, come on - the little toddler that communicates to the older witch woman only through thought bubbles? That's amazing.

I love the line:
"Do you run?"
"Only when chased."

Erm. Yeah.

I honestly couldn't possibly begin to estimate how many times I've watched that movie. My mom bought it for us on VHS, and then I bought it on DVD when I went to school.

Have you ever watched a movie, or read a book, or something, so many times it becomes engrained into your personality and your personal history? Star Wars and Real Genius.

After seeing your TiVo and Michelle's DVR I'm jealous that we have neither. I now realize just how many shows I want to see that I don't actually ever get to see. Too bad Mom is against ever getting either of those things.

Maybe that's a good thing though. She'd be able to watch Dr. Phil all the time and God only knows how self-empowering he'd teach her to be.

Hey Brooke, I just wanted to pop in because I thought you might be interested in joining my new supergroup.

I think you would fit right in with us.

Awww, Jeff, that's just mean!

Hey. The truth hurts sometimes.

Like how I know I'll never be a movie action hero - ouch.

Or like how Dane Cook is ruining comedy for the rest of America, just like Larry the Cable Guy, Jeff Foxworthy and those other two dumb hick motherfuckers whose names escape me at the moment.

Sorry. I hate Blue Collar Comedy. Worse than Dane Cook.

Jeff, Thursday, October 19th

The crap of the Blue Collar guys is one thing we can agree on in the realm of comedy.

The fact that the WB cancelled Angel and stuck the Blue Collar comedy show on instead only adds insult to injury.
