A rather tipsy J just informed me that she had been out drinking with several of her classmates tonight, and that one of them is single and good looking, and is my husband.
That's right, I suddenly have a husband who I've never spoken to before. How very progressive of me; I may be at the forefront of the next new social trend. I do feel sort of cheated though, because apparently this social trend doesn't include a flashy diamond ring. I hope J won't be offended if I turn away this husband of mine, because I know she she knows the importance of diamonds.

Strangely enough, the Tang dynasty of China (7-10th c. AD) allowed their women to not only SPEAK TO THEIR HUSBANDS BEFORE MARRIAGE, but sometimes even live together.
I conclude that history knowledge is sexy.
