10/07/2005: "Worst Day Ever"

Song of the Day: Girls Aloud - Life Got Cold

I think today qualifies as one of my Worst Days Ever.

The 40 degree drop in the weather that happened in less than 24 hours caused my allergies and sinuses to act up, and no medicine seemed to be able to put a dent in it. I spent all four hours of classes running to the bathroom to mop up my nose, which was miserable enough in itself.

Then I get home and go to take off my brand spankin' new, absofuckinglutely perfect, brown knee-high boots that I just got for dirt cheap last weekend...only to find out that the zipper on one of them was busted and stuck. I spent an hour with my nose running and my stomach wildly growling trying to get it unstuck. Eventually, I had to cut through the leather to get it off. I actually cried. I'm off to the shoe repair store tomorrow to see if anything can be done; my mom is optimistic, but I'm not so sure. I mean, I cut through the leather. My first step would be taking them back to the shoe store and replacing them, but they were, in a sad twist of fate, the only remaining pair in my size. Luckily I still have the receipt, but the worst case scenario is that they can't be fixed and the shoe store thinks I'm nuts asking for my money back.

Then, later in the evening, I start getting a headache. No biggie, I pop two Tylenol. Well, that headache turned into a migraine. I spent two hours dry heaving and in tears feeling pathetically pathetic and alone and fearful that I would puke up all the pills I'd just taken (two Tylenol, two Excedrin Migraines, a vitamin, a decongestant, and a birth control pill) before they'd had a chance to take effect. To make matters worse, I missed the first half of U2 on Conan because I was quite convinced I was about to die. Eventually, the nauseating pain in my head subsided and realized I might actually live through the night, so I crawled to the couch to watch the second half of the show. I suspected that I wasn't actually up to par yet after it ended and I realized that I was babbling out loud to the TV, trying to explain to it why I didn't want to see Carson Daly and that U2 could come back.

U2 closed the show with one of my favorite songs (Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of), so hopefully that's a sign of better things to come. Of course, given the title, maybe not.
