04/07/2005: "Fast food...not so good"

Song of the Day: Geri Halliwell - Ride It

Today a classmate and I had to go to the Recorder of the Deeds office to do a project for Property. Before we went, we stopped at a food court to fuel up. Food courts obviously are made up primarily of fast food restaurants, which, outside of Chipotle, are places I haven't been in the last six months. It mainly has to do with the facts that Chipotle is the only fast food restaurant in decent walking distance, and that when I spend money to eat out, I'd rather go to one of the hundreds of unique ethnic restaurants in my neighborhood.

At the food court, I made a beeline for Taco Bell, which was my favorite fast food place in college. I ordered my usual - a chicken quesadilla and a nacho cheese chalupa with baja sauce. I don't know if it was the long absence from fast food, or if it was the fact that for the last month I've been eating fruit, veggies, and whole wheat like it's my job, but I could barely stomach it. I made it through the quesadilla and then just stared at the chalupa. I felt like I MUST eat it because I spent $1.39 on it, but it just wasn't going to happen.

I'm sure my arteries and my noticeably-nicer-lately abs thanked me for it, although I felt like I should be able to sell it back to the restaurant - "See? I didn't even unwrap it. You can give it to the next customer and they'll never know."

I think the only fast food I can stomach is Wendy's or Mark Pi's (Dan likes it and it's 2 minutes from his house)

Man, Taco Bell?? I can't even watch Corin down all the food she likes to get there!
