12/09/2004: "Happy Holidays. Really."

Someone in my apartment building sent a "derogatory letter" to the management office about the fact that there are only Hannukah decorations in the lobby right now. The letter that the management posted in the mail room in response kindly informed the tenants and the letter writer that the Christmas tree is set for delivery on the 16th, the day after Hannukah ends, just like it was last year, and would people please include their names on any letters they send to the management office so that they can contact people individually about any problems they might be having?

It just killed me that someone had to write an anonymous, derogatory letter about it. It's not like this is a government-owned building where signs of religion can't be displayed. Why couldn't the crackhead write a polite letter, or even go up to the management office and say something? People are so weird.

The dude writing the derogatory letter pisses me off. First off, I'm embracing Hannukah this year and celebrating Christmakah... seriously, can't we all just get along?! It's the HOLIDAY season, meaning... celebrate ALL holidays.

You can't tell me there is not a substantial Jewish population in Chicago.

I say you boycott putting up the damn Christmas tree. And if your apartment complex decides to put it up, add a couple Hannukah decorations to it...

Just to piss the guy off again.

what would be the point in causing more stress and irritation for the tenants in a season that's already pretty stressful? and why boycott and ruin it for the rest of the people who celebrate xmas, just to 'punish' someone else?

That is so gay they should take the christmas tree up their ass and put it up in the lobby if they are going to be so anal about it. People like that piss me off BIG TIME!
