10/07/2004: "Saxophones?"

So tell me, what's up with panhandlers and saxophones? In the last month or so, I've encountered three panhandlers playing saxophones on the street corners. One is a regular who I see at least twice a week in the same spot outside Union Station, but the other two I've only seen once. I don't get it...if you have to beg for money on the streets, how the hell do you acquire a saxophone? Is there some charitable society giving away free saxophones to unemployed people? One guy didn't even have shoes, how the heck did he get a saxophone? My knowledge of instruments is limited to the piano, but I'm pretty sure brass instruments aren't cheap.

In other interesting news, Will tells me his mother gave him an idea for my one year anniversary present, but he's not sure if he can lift it. I'm dying of curiousity now.

I hadn't even thought of it that way, I'm always just trying to think of obnoxious songs to ask them to play.
