07/12/2004: "Slow going"
I received a nice surprise in the mail this weekend; apparently I am graduating from college with honors. It must be something different than graduating from the honors program, which I did not do since I didn't complete the senior honors' project (you wouldn't have either, it was a 25-page paper on top of the other term papers I had to do last semester). The letter says it's based on my grades, but didn't give any indication what grades were necessary to graduate with honors. Looks like that one C I had in my entire college career didn't harm me as much as I thought, no? (insert obligatory moaning: WHY WHY WHY DID I TAKE GEOLOGY INSTEAD OF BRUSHING UP ON A SCIENCE I HAD IN HIGH SCHOOL?)
This weekend in Chicago, we did the Ikea thing, and holy crap was that an experience. No wonder the owner of it just surpassed Bill Gates as World's Richest Man, driving up to that place felt like driving up to Disneyland, there were that many people there. I found a lot of nice stuff, but sort of panicked when I spent $900 and realized I still didn't have everything I needed (they were out of a few things I wanted). My uncle kept reminding me that furniture is an investment and that I'll have lots of this stuff for a long time.
My prediction was right: I did NOT want to come home. Stupid, stupid internship...
