11/23/2003: "Stupid stupid people"

I was taken advantage of today. Or at least someone tried to. I'm too damn smart for that.

I went to an independently owned video game store looking for three games that just came out this past week that I wanted to buy. Upon seeing that the Game Boy Advance game I was looking for was not displayed on the shelf, so I asked the guy working behind the counter about it. He told me that it didn't come out for another few weeks, but he had ONE copy behind the register, and he would sell it to me. First off, the game came out this past week. I'm very knowledgable about release dates when I've been tracking the game since it was first announced. Second, he wanted $40.00 for it. The list price for it is $29.99. He insisted that the only way he could give it to me "early" is if I coughed up $40.

So I told him right away that there was no way. After he tried to convince me otherwise, I told him I wasn't interested in buying anything from him and I turned out and left. One thing that made me think he was trying to rip me off was the fact that he thought I was just buying a gift for someone and couldn't that a girl would know anything about video games, much less play them. So there was definitely something fishy there.

Oh well, it's not like I have time to play any video games until this schoolweek is over, which is Tuesday, thanks to Thanksgiving break. I, thank god, just hit page 11 of the 10 page paper I have to turn in on Monday for my Criminal Courts class (why euthanasia should not be exempt from criminal liability, using only facts from research and no opinions), but I have another 5 page paper that I'm turning in Tuesday for my Law Enforcement class.

And the good news that Melantha just told me: NEW HARRY POTTER MOVIE ON JUNE 4!!!
