09/11/2003: "Radical feminists suck"
Today in my vampire lit class, I came to the conclusion that I think English majors are just plain weird. The discussions that we have in the class are interesting, and they're a nice break from my criminal justice classes, but I don't really get what English majors get out of college that they can take into the real world. Sure, some people take an English major to law school, and some become English teachers (which seems like a vicious cycle to me), but I don't feel like they could possibly take anything tangible out of their studies. You don't learn any FACTS, it's all discussion and theory. The same goes for philosophy majors.
Plus there are all these radical feminists in my English class, and I want to smack them up over the side of their heads. We were discussing rape today (apparently violent sex is an important topic when discussing vampries) and the prof was asking questions for us to discuss, and I kept bringing up facts that I knew from c.j. classes about actual court cases and statistics, and the feminists kept denying that what I was saying was true because "a woman would NEVER let something like that happen to her."
Organizations here on campus chalk advertisements on the sidewalks for their meetings, and one said, "Hate liberals? We do. Come to the Campus Republicans meeting." There was a huge flurry of activity in the editorial section of the newspaper the next day putting the Campus Republicans down for that, but all I could do was laugh.

Yeah Brooke I agree Feminist are dorks. And english majors are people who aren't ambitious enough to branch out and get some culture, I bet people who study spanish find better uses for their school money. Its so dumb it seems to me that you major in english when you don't have any other interest in things that are tangible such as cars, or art, or movies, or helping people, or health care, or sex, or something else. When someone tells me they are an english major I think wow... and I step back like they have Anthrax or something. English Majors SUCK!
