02/10/2003: "Morbid V-Day part 1"
To celebrate this week that ends in my favorite holiday (that's sarcasm, mind you), I'm posting lyrics about love gone wrong each day. This is a reminder for those happy, happy couples that for each one of you, there are five people who hate you and your stupid public displays of affection. Enjoy.
Today's lyric comes from Faith Hill's "This Kiss". Nevermind that the song is actually about happiness
Cinderella said to Snow White
How does love get so off course?
All I wanted was a white knight
With a good heart, soft touch, fast horse
See, here the fairytale princesses are mocking fairytale true love! If their happily ever after falls apart, what's expected for the rest of us?

more fuel for your love-gone-wrong fire:
* the entirety of Marianne Faithful's "Why'd Ya Do It?" - I'm not posting it here because it's not kid-friendly, but if you can't find it, I'll happily get them for you. :D
* the entirety of VAST - pretty when you cry (if you knew how much I loved you, you would run away, but when I treat you bad it always makes you want to stay)
* depeche mode's "Never Let Me Down Again" - maybe not about love, per se, but cmon, friendship is a kind of love, right?
* poe's "Wild" - oh, just listen to it. :D also, Spanish Doll, although it's about her father, it could be mistaken for a love-gone-wrong song.
* smashing pumpkin's "Crestfallen" - "who am I to need you when I'm down, and where are you when I need you around? ... who am I to need you now, to ask you why, to tell you no, to deserve your love and sympathy, you were never meant to belong to me" ... depressing. :D
* Fiona Apple's entire catalog, but particularly "Get Gone", "Limp", "Paper Bag", "Shadowboxer", and "Carrion". bitterness, thy name is Fiona. :D
* Fleming and John's "Ugly Girl". it's funny AND bitter! w00t!
* Dido - Don't Think of Me (I think you know this one already, though)
* Isle of Q - Bag of Tricks: "I remember how you dressed in style, shined your smile, when all along you knew we'd never last..."
* Placebo - Every You Every Me - not really about love, per se, but it sure is wallow-in-my-puddle-of-misery-y. :D
* Patsy Cline - I Fall To Pieces (classic)
I think that's enough for now. hehehe!
