01/31/2003: "Serial killer story #1"
My favorite serial killer story of the week:
One of the Hillside Stranglers, Kenneth Bianchi, used the defense of having Multiple Personality Disorder. His "other" personality was named Steve Walker, and he was the opposite of Kenneth, who was a "loving, responsible father." So Kenneth is blaming "Steve" for the murders, and the defense's psychiatrists are going to town with this by hypnotizing him and getting details of the murders from "Steve". After a while, the prosecutor's psychiatrist decides to hypnotize Kenneth, and he mentions to him that it's rare to find a case of MPD where there are only two personalities. Low and behold, moments after being hypnotized, a personality named "Billy" emerges too.
Needless to say, Kenneth ended up pleading guilty.
