12/17/2002: "New Year's dress and date needed"
After seeing people all dressed up for the holidays in a magazine, I've decided that I want to buy an unpractical, shimmery, flow-y, low-cut dress to wear with unpractical, stiletto, strappy heels for New Year's. Never mind that I'm probably spending New Year's sitting at home by myself since everyone who I would hang out with has something called "significant others". Who are these others and what makes them significant? Hell if I know, I lead the life of the perpetually single person myself.
Oh well, I probably wouldn't be able to get the dress, seeing how the mall is jam-packed with people doing Christmas shopping and returns. Damn you merry people who are spreading good cheer with your presents, what about those of us who just want to be greedy and spend all our money on ourselves? Do your holiday shopping in June and leave the malls clear for the rest of us.
Want proof that I'm a moron? My mom and I ordered one of my dad's Christmas presents online, and we had it sent to my name. My mom called me a few days ago asking if I'd gotten any emails about it, because it had been two weeks since we ordered it, and it still hadn't come in the mail. About a week and a half ago, a strange box from New Mexico addressed to me landed on our doorstep, and I couldn't figure out what the hell it was and told my mom I'd open it when I got home. See where I'm going with this? It took until last night when I was falling asleep for it to all click in my head. My only saving graces are that A) my mom didn't figure it out either and B) the return address on the box was from an individual, not the company name.
Oh well, at least I gave me a good laugh.
