10/31/2002: "I feel loved"

Tomorrow night is Big/Lil night. All new members rank the top 10 people they want for their Big, which is basically a mentor kind of role and you're supposed to have a special bond and stuff. MY Big is a psychotic bitch who I didn't even rank in my top 500, but she went and cried to the person in charge and therefore got me. She's in Brazil now and she's probably going to get knocked up by someone there and not be allowed back in the US. After she left (she's doing student teaching there, and I can't figure out WHY she would choose Brazil of all places), I found out that no one else in the sorority likes her either.

ANYWAYS, for about a week and a half, the new members have no clue who their Bigs are, and we send them notes and presents and emails and clues (which are usually false) and basically lead them on a wild goosechase trying to figure out who we are. It all comes to a close on Big/Lil night when they go on a scavenger hunt and find their Big in the end.

I took my first Lil this semester, and she is AMAZING. I absolutely love this girl. And she emailed me (at the fake email address I made just for her) and said, "I'm super excited to find out who you are!!! I know that whoever it is, i'm in good hands! Thanks so much for all the gifts you've given me so far! I think we're gonna make a terrific pair! I love you already and I don't even know who you are." I got sniffly and teary eyed when I read that.

I JUST finished making all her presents she gets tomorrow night; you can go to the Greek store and buy a bunch of stuff with your sorority's letters on it, but it is SO much cheaper to buy crafting stuff and make your own. Plus, that means each Lil will have unique things that no one else has. That's NOT so good for me, though, because I am just about the most uncreative, unartistic person alive. My little sister got all those genes in my family.

Speaking of my sister, I call home today, and she's all dressed up in a costume to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters. She goes, "I'm wearing some things from a green ballet costume you had, and some things from a green ballet costume I had. I'm a green whore."

She promised me pictures. Hopefully she'll deliver so all my readers can see just what a green whore is.
